Where to Find In Stock Cabinets

So you’ve priced out custom cabinetry, and you’ve crossed it off the list. Where are the best places to find in stock cabinets for your kitchen remodel? If you’ve already looked at the offerings at your local home improvement warehouse, why don’t you have a look on the internet? If you order kitchen cabinets online, you can choose from a much larger selection than any normal warehouse can provide.

After You Order Kitchen Cabinets Online

If you order your cabinets online, you’ll receive unassembled kitchen cabinets delivered to your home. Assembling and installing cabinets is not difficult, and you don’t need to hire a contractor to install them in your home.

Installing Unassembled Kitchen Cabinets

Make sure you use the proper hardware to hang your cabinets. Drywall screws can snap under the heavy load of hanging cabinets. Instead of drywall screws, attach cabinets to studs with 2½-inch deck screws fitted with cabinet washers. These hangers usually screw right through the support beams running horizontally across the top and bottom of the cabinets into the wall studs. Place cabinets side by side to make a single unit and ensure tight seams between the face frames so the doors hang evenly with no gaps.

Before lifting upper cabinets into position, screw in a 1x3 cleat just below the layout line to help support the cabinet weight. This is a lot easier if you have someone to help hold the cabinets, but if you’re on your own, use a cabinet jack to hold the cabinet in place while attaching it to the wall.

Don’t Throw Out Your Old Cabinets

You can get a tax break and help those less fortunate than yourself by donating your old cabinets for use in someone else’s kitchen. Programs like Habitat for Humanity accept donations of cabinets for resale; some groups will even pick them up. If you plan to donate your old cabinets, take care while removing them so they aren’t damaged.
